Oxnard, CA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Oxnard's curb-color scheme runs through four consecutive sections of the parking article. Sec. 8-52 limits white zones to loading or unloading passengers, or depositing mail in an adjacent mailbox, and caps the stop at three minutes for either purpose. Sec. 8-53 allows a vehicle to stop, stand, or park in a green zone for up to 15 minutes, but only between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on days other than Sundays and holidays; outside that window the green-zone time limit doesn't apply. Sec. 8-54 is the strictest of the four: it bars stopping, standing, or parking in a red zone at all, with no built-in time allowance.

Sec. 8-55 separately protects fire hydrant access, prohibiting a stop, stand, or park within ten feet of a hydrant. That hydrant rule carries two exceptions: the vehicle is allowed if it's attended by a licensed driver seated in the front seat who can move it immediately if needed, or if the vehicle is owned or operated by a fire department and is clearly marked as a fire department vehicle. These curb colors are established and signed by the traffic engineer under the article's general authority, and a stop that exceeds the posted color-zone limit is treated as a violation of the parking article under Sec. 8-60, which specifically calls out parking contrary to markings placed by the traffic engineer.
