Oxnard, CA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 8-41.1, added by Ordinance Nos. 2693, 2715, and 2730, targets vehicles the code calls 'oversized': any motor vehicle, as defined in Cal. Vehicle Code Sec. 670, that exceeds 96 inches in height (not counting legally allowed projecting devices) and 240 inches in length, or any motor vehicle towing a trailer as defined in Cal. Vehicle Code Sec. 630 regardless of the combined rig's height or length. The ban covers 'residential zones,' defined for this section as areas, including the public streets running through them, mapped R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, or MH-PD.

Subsection (B) prohibits parking or leaving standing an oversized vehicle on a public street in one of those zones at all, subject to the exemptions in (C). An owner may use the street for up to 24 hours to load the vehicle immediately before a vacation trip out of the city, and another 24 hours to unload it immediately after returning, or stop long enough to make a delivery to a residence. A contractor performing contract services at a residence may park an oversized vehicle on the street in front of that residence for as long as the work is underway. Vehicles exempted from the commercial-vehicle rule at Sec. 8-36 (public vehicles), and vehicles displaying a Cal. Vehicle Code Sec. 5007 special identification plate or a Sec. 22511.55/22511.59 disabled placard, are not subject to the restriction at all. Subsection (D) requires the city to post signs giving reasonable notice of the prohibition wherever it applies.
