Moorpark restricts the storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers on residential property. Vehicles stored on public streets are subject to the 72-hour move requirement. RVs may not be used as living quarters on residential property. Equipment and vehicles must not be stored in front yards or unscreened side yards visible from the street.
MMC Chapter 8.48 (Property Maintenance) Section 8.48.020(I) prohibits storage of equipment, machinery, or vehicles (operative or inoperative) in front yards, unscreened side yards, or any yard area visible from any public right-of-way, except that fully operative vehicles may be parked on a paved driveway or adjacent paved area. Section 8.48.020(P) specifically addresses recreational vehicles, prohibiting their use as a place of habitation or residence on residential property. On public streets, vehicles including RVs, boats, and trailers may not be stored for more than 72 consecutive hours per the city's parking regulations. Screening requirements may apply for RVs stored in side or rear yards.
Storing an RV, boat, or trailer in a front yard or unscreened area visible from the street violates Β§8.48.020(I). Using an RV as a dwelling is a separate violation under Β§8.48.020(P). Street-stored vehicles exceeding 72 hours may be cited and towed. Contact Code Compliance at (805) 517-6232.
