Moorpark does not have a blanket overnight street parking ban. Vehicles may park on public streets overnight but may not remain in the same location for more than 72 consecutive hours. The city enforces the 72-hour rule through Code Compliance and Parking Enforcement in coordination with the Ventura County Sheriff.
Moorpark does not prohibit overnight parking on public streets as a general rule. However, vehicles may not be stored in the public right-of-way for more than 72 consecutive hours per city parking regulations. If a vehicle appears abandoned or has remained in the same spot for 72 hours or more, the city can be contacted to work with Parking Enforcement and the Moorpark Police Department (Ventura County Sheriff) to address the problem. Street sweeping schedules may impose temporary no-parking restrictions on certain days. Some residential developments and specific plan areas may have additional parking restrictions imposed through CC&Rs or HOA rules.
Vehicles parked in the same location for more than 72 hours are subject to citation and towing. Report suspected abandoned vehicles to Code Compliance at (805) 517-6232 or email codecompliance@moorparkca.gov. The Ventura County Sheriff handles parking enforcement at (805) 532-2700.
