Summary

Moorpark bans parking oversized vehicles, trailers and fifth wheels, over 19 feet long, 7 feet wide or 8 feet tall, on streets the city council designates and posts by resolution under Municipal Code Section 10.04.205.

For the purpose of this section the term "oversized vehicle" shall mean any vehicle, as defined by Section 670 of the Vehicle Code, or combination of vehicles, which exceeds 19 feet in length, seven feet in width, or eight feet in height, exclusive of projecting lights or devices allowed by Section 35109, 35110, or 35112 of the Vehicle Code, as may be amended.

C. The prohibitions contained in subsection A of this section shall not apply to any commercial vehicles in a residential district making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares, and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on the restricted streets or highways or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling, or construction of any building or structure upon the restricted streets or highways for which a building permit has previously been obtained. Full Breakdown

Moorpark Municipal Code Section 10.04.205 lets the city council designate specific streets where oversized vehicles, trailers and fifth wheels cannot park or stand. "Oversized" means any vehicle or combination exceeding 19 feet in length, 7 feet in width, or 8 feet in height. The ban only takes effect on a street once the city posts notice there under California Vehicle Code Section 22507. Commercial vehicles making deliveries or hauling materials for a permitted repair, remodel or construction job at an adjoining property are exempt even on a restricted street.

Violations & Fines

Parking an oversized vehicle on a posted street violates Section 10.04.205 and is a citable parking infraction; vehicles left standing can also be tagged and removed under the city's standard vehicle-removal provisions.
