Summary
When a recognized holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, Moorpark pushes that day's pickup, and the rest of the week's, one day later, per Municipal Code Section 8.36.370(D).
Whenever a holiday recognized by the city or any approved disposal site falls upon a regularly scheduled collection day, the solid waste scheduled for collection that day, and for the remainder of the week, may be picked up one day later than scheduled following specified guidelines in subsections A through C of this section. Commercial collection scheduled for Saturday may be picked up on Sunday between the hours of ten (10:00) a.m. and three (3:00) p.m.
Official source re-checked September 7, 2026: no newer edition of the code had been published (publisher’s edition: rev 4978490; v10 updated 2026-07-01).
Full Breakdown
Moorpark's collection-hours section builds in a standing holiday accommodation: if a city-recognized holiday, or a holiday observed by the disposal site the waste goes to, lands on what would normally be a pickup day, that day's collection and every collection for the rest of that week slides one day later. The one exception is commercial accounts normally serviced Saturday, those can instead be picked up on Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. rather than sliding into the following week.
Violations & Fines
This section sets a schedule rule rather than a prohibition; the main risk is missing a shifted pickup day and having waste sit out past the placement window in Section 8.36.070.
