Simi Valley restricts parking of RVs, boats, and other oversized vehicles or detached trailers on every city street under SVMC Section 4-9.402, with a 48-hour visitor/loading allowance at a registered Simi Valley address.
Under Section 4-9.402 of the Simi Valley Municipal Code (SVMC), vehicles over 23 feet long, 7 feet wide, or 8 feet high - and detached trailers - are restricted from parking on all city streets. The City of Simi Valley directly states the rule on its police-department flyer: 'Vehicles over 23 ft. long, 7 ft. wide or 8 ft. high, as well as detached trailers, are restricted from parking on all city streets under Section 4-9.402 S.V.M.C.' The restriction does not apply to a resident's oversized vehicle parked at the registered Simi Valley address for up to 48 hours in connection with general-recreation activities (preparing for or returning from a trip, routine maintenance) or when visitors use the resident's recreational vehicle during a 48-hour visit. Trailers parked on the street must remain connected to a tow vehicle at all times. Visitors with oversized vehicles or trailers must obtain a permit through the Simi Valley Police Department; there is no grace period for visitors. Residents facing a hardship situation may apply for a temporary permit at no charge from the SVPD Traffic Bureau.
Citations are issued under SVMC 4-9.402 and vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense. The flyer states: 'Violators will be cited under 4-9.402 S.V.M.C. and vehicles may be towed at their owner's expense.'
