Simi Valley regulates the parking and storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers on residential properties. Vehicles must be stored in approved locations and may not be used as living quarters or obstruct public rights-of-way.
Under the Simi Valley Municipal Code, RVs, boats, and trailers may be stored on residential properties in side or rear yards or in enclosed garages. Front yard and driveway storage is restricted; RVs may be parked in driveways for loading and unloading purposes for up to 72 hours. Vehicles must be currently registered and in operable condition. RVs may not be connected to utilities or used as living quarters. Storage on unpaved surfaces visible from the street may be prohibited. On-street parking of RVs, boats, and trailers is subject to the city's 72-hour vehicle parking limit and may be further restricted on specific streets.
Violations result in notices from Code Enforcement with a compliance deadline. RVs parked on streets beyond 72 hours may be cited and towed. Administrative fines start at $100 for first offense. Habitation of an RV on residential property is a separate zoning violation with enhanced penalties.
