Camarillo's zoning code (CMC Title 19) restricts the parking and storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers in residential zones. RVs and boats generally may not be stored in front yards or on the street and must be screened from view. Most Camarillo HOAs impose additional strict RV/boat parking restrictions.
CMC Title 19 zoning standards regulate the storage of recreational vehicles, boats, trailers, and similar equipment in residential zones. Vehicles must typically be stored behind a fence or in an enclosed structure and not visible from the street. Front yard storage is generally prohibited. Inoperable or unlicensed vehicles and boats may not be stored on residential property where visible from public view. RVs may not be used as living quarters on residential property. On public streets, vehicles including RVs and boat trailers are subject to the 72-hour parking limit and may not be parked for extended periods. Oversized vehicles may be subject to additional restrictions on narrow residential streets. Nearly all Camarillo HOA communities have strict CC&R provisions regarding RV and boat storage, often requiring off-site storage facilities. Some HOAs prohibit RV and boat parking entirely on residential lots.
Zoning violations are enforced by Community Development at (805) 388-5360. Street parking violations by Camarillo Police at (805) 388-5100. HOA violations result in fines and possible lien action. Inoperable vehicles may be cited under CMC Chapter 11.08 (Abandoned Vehicles).
