In Lima, if a driveway exists, residential vehicles must be parked on it, not on the lawn. Codified Ordinance 1806.14 requires parking on an approved hard surface and prohibits parking on the front lawn or treelawn.
Section 1806.14 requires that where a driveway exists on residential premises, motor vehicles, commercial vehicles, recreational vehicles and watercraft be parked only on the driveway. Any parking surface must be a City Engineer-approved hard surface no larger than 400 square feet, accommodating no more than two vehicles/watercraft (or one RV/commercial vehicle), and connected to the driveway or right-of-way. Only one hard surface is permitted in the combined front and side yards, and it must sit at least ten feet from any property line. Parking on the treelawn or on the front or side lawn is prohibited.
Parking off the driveway on grass is a property maintenance violation under Part 18; a notice to remove is issued with escalating citations.
