Rockville requires all vehicles on residential properties to park on approved paved surfaces. Vehicles must not block sidewalks and must be maintained in operable condition.
Rockville Community Enhancement Code Enforcement requires all vehicles on residential properties to be parked on approved surfaces including concrete, asphalt, or other improved surfaces. Parking on grass, dirt, or gravel that has not been approved is prohibited. Driveways must meet the dimensional and design standards set forth in the Rockville Zoning Ordinance Chapter 25, Article 16 for parking and loading. Vehicles parked in driveways must not obstruct public sidewalks or extend into the right-of-way. All vehicles on a property must be maintained in good condition with all tires inflated and window glass and body parts intact. Residents are allowed to park one unlicensed vehicle on their property provided it meets maintenance standards. Driveway expansions or modifications require a building permit and must comply with impervious surface coverage limits for the zoning district. The Standards and Details manual published by the city governs driveway apron construction where private driveways connect to public streets.
Vehicles parked on unapproved surfaces or in deteriorated condition may receive a notice of violation from Community Enhancement Code Enforcement. Property owners are given a compliance period before fines are assessed.
