Conway, AR Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Conway Municipal Code § 8.12.02, adopted under Ord. No. A-511, authorizes the City Council to provide bus stops, loading zones, or similar traffic zones within the parking meter zone; the section itself sets no hours or size requirements for a loading zone, leaving those specifics to whatever the Council designates when it creates one. The more detailed local rule sits in § 8.12.04, adopted by Ord. No. O-75-4, which makes it unlawful to park in an alley at all unless the vehicle is actively loading or unloading merchandise from a business that opens onto or adjoins that alley, and even then the vehicle cannot remain longer than is reasonably necessary to finish the loading or unloading.

There is no numeric time limit printed for alley loading, unlike the fixed two-hour and thirty-minute street zones set out in § 8.12.09; "reasonably necessary" is judged case by case by the officer on the scene. Together the two sections mean Conway's loading rules are a general-authorization-plus-alley-restriction scheme rather than a citywide schedule of loading zone hours, so drivers checking for loading zone rules should look for posted signage created under Council authority as well as the alley restriction.
