Conway, AR Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Conway Municipal Code § 8.12.07, most recently amended by Ord. No. O-09-78 in 2009, requires every vehicle stopped or parked on a curbed roadway to sit parallel with its right-hand wheels within eighteen (18) inches of the right-hand curb. Subsection B then lists specific places where stopping or parking is barred outright except to avoid a traffic conflict or under a police officer's direction: on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection, on a crosswalk, within thirty feet of the approach to a flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic-control signal, alongside a street excavation or obstruction that would block traffic, on the roadway side of a vehicle already parked at a curb, wherever official signs prohibit stopping, and in front of a sidewalk ramp.

This section works alongside § 8.12.01, which separately bans double parking behind or beside a vehicle already in an authorized space, and § 8.12.03, which requires a driver leaving a car unattended on a street or alley to shut the engine off entirely, with cars parked within the fire limits required to sit within twelve inches of the curb and at least twenty-five feet from any corner. Conway Police cite these rules to keep sightlines, crosswalks, and emergency access clear throughout the city's downtown and residential streets.
