Full Breakdown

Under City Code § 46-4-23, no operator may stop in a loading zone for any purpose other than the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers, or stand a commercial vehicle there beyond the reasonable time needed to load or unload materials or merchandise, during the hours the loading zone is in effect. Any other standing or parking in the zone is prohibited outright, and the rule yields only to traffic conflicts or a police officer's or traffic-control device's direction.

Violations & Fines

Parking or standing in a loading zone outside the permitted loading/unloading use is a parking violation subject to citation and towing by Detroit Police/DPW enforcement.
