Detroit Sec. 55-4-39 prohibits parking commercial vehicles, other than passenger vehicles, on the highway in front of any premises in a residential district except while expeditiously loading or unloading.
Section 55-4-39 makes it unlawful to park a commercial vehicle on a highway in front of any premises located in a residential district except while expeditiously loading or unloading. The same section addresses parking of motor homes, house trailers, picket trailers, campers and other recreational equipment on the public way in residential areas. Chapter 50 zoning also limits the parking of commercial vehicles as an accessory use in residential districts. The Municipal Parking Department issues residential parking permits under Chapter 55, Article II, Division 2 (Secs. 55-2-26 and following) in designated zones.
Commercial vehicle parking violations are civil infractions under Chapter 55 with fines set in the city's schedule of fees, plus tow and storage costs if impounded.
