Dearborn prohibits parking commercial vehicles over 1 ton or 8000 pounds GVWR in residential zones except for active loading. Semi-trucks and trailers are banned from residential streets.
The Dearborn Zoning Ordinance and Chapter 22 of the City Code restrict commercial vehicle parking in residential districts. Commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 8000 pounds, more than 2 axles, or carrying commercial advertising larger than 8 square feet generally may not be parked overnight on residential streets or in residential driveways. Exceptions exist for active deliveries, moving vans, and service calls. Semi-tractors, tractor-trailers, dump trucks, and construction equipment are prohibited from being stored in residential areas at any time. Commercial vehicles may be stored in industrial (M) and certain business (B) districts, or in approved off-street commercial lots. Contractor trucks with ladders and tools may be parked at a residence if registered to the homeowner and under the size limits.
