Full Breakdown

Sec. 16-91(d) sets three loading-zone categories. A passenger loading zone allows only the expeditious pick-up, drop-off or loading of passengers or property, capped at five minutes. A truck loading zone allows delivery or pickup of materials for up to 30 minutes, though a driver may still stop briefly to load or unload passengers if it doesn't interfere with a vehicle waiting to use the zone. A bus loading zone is reserved for motor buses, with other vehicles allowed only a brief stop to load or unload passengers. The rule dates to Ord. No. 2017-06, adopted Feb. 1, 2017.

Violations & Fines

Exceeding a loading zone's time limit or parking there without a qualifying use is a Class B violation: a $20 forfeiture on first offense, rising to $55 for a fourth or later offense within 365 days (Sec. 16-149(b)).
