Tracy, CA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

530 authorizes the City Council to mark loading zones for commercial deliveries at any location in the business district, or in front of the entrance to a place of business or a hall used for public assembly. The section caps how much curb any one block can dedicate to loading purposes: no more than half of a block's total curb length can be reserved for loading zones and passenger loading zones combined, not counting passenger zones outside public theaters. Freight loading zones are marked with a yellow line and the stenciled words 'Loading Only' on the curb, distinguishing them from the white-striped passenger loading zones described in the same section.

540(a) limits how long a commercial vehicle can occupy a loading zone: only for the time actually necessary to load or unload, and never more than 30 minutes, and subsection (b) confines that time allowance to genuine commercial deliveries, express and parcel post pickups, and United States mail, not general parking. window, excluding Sundays and holidays, after weighing factors including how often the zone would be used, the weight and type of merchandise typically moved there, how many businesses would rely on it, and existing traffic congestion and parking demand in the area.
