Fort Wayne has no citywide overnight parking ban on public streets. The 72-hour consecutive parking rule applies. Snow emergency routes must be cleared after declaration. Some downtown permit districts restrict overnight parking to residents.
Unlike many Midwestern cities, Fort Wayne does not impose a blanket overnight ban on street parking. Residents and visitors may park overnight on most public streets subject to the 72-hour maximum stay (Chapter 72). Exceptions include: (1) residential permit parking districts near downtown and IPFW where overnight parking requires a resident permit, (2) snow emergency routes when emergency is declared, (3) posted no-parking zones including street-sweeping schedules. Private property overnight parking rules are set by property owners. Apartment complexes and HOAs may have separate registration requirements.
Permit district violation: 25 dollars. Snow emergency: 50 dollars plus tow. Street sweeping: 20 dollars.
