San Leandro prohibits oversized vehicles, RVs, and heavy commercial vehicles from parking on residential streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., and limits RVs on private property to one per parcel.
San Leandro Municipal Code Title 6, Chapter 6-1 prohibits any motor vehicle with more than two axles, or any single vehicle/combination exceeding 20 feet in length, or seven feet or more in height, or with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more, from being parked or left standing on any street in a Residence District between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Commercial vehicles meeting those dimensions are prohibited from parking in Residence Districts at any time, except for a reasonable time exceeding two hours necessary for pickups, deliveries, or construction/repair materials. On private property, the City limits RV/camper parking to one such vehicle per property at any time, and oversized vehicles may not be parked within 20 feet of the front sidewalk unless no driveway/yard space is available. A 2025 code amendments package proposed extending oversized-vehicle restrictions citywide to two hours unless actively loading/unloading.
Police Traffic Division enforces overnight parking restrictions. Citation amounts follow the City's administrative citation schedule ($125 first / $200 second under SLMC Chapter 1-12) plus applicable CVC penalties. Vehicles in violation may be towed.
