Standard residential streets in Sioux Falls have no nightly overnight parking ban. However, Chapter 96 of the City Code (Snow Removal Alert ordinances), authorized by the home-rule charter and SDCL § 9-29-1, creates a tiered emergency-parking regime that activates whenever the Public Works Director or Mayor declares a snow alert (typically when 2 or more inches of snow has fallen).
