Under OCCO Section 7-9-70, recreational vehicles including boats, trailers, and motorhomes may not be parked on unpaved surfaces or front yards in residential zoning districts. Vehicles must be stored on an improved driveway surface and may not extend over sidewalks or into the public right-of-way. RVs stored on residential property must be registered, operable, and in good repair. On-street storage of RVs and boats is limited by the 72-hour parking restriction under California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k). OC Code Enforcement and the OC Sheriff enforce violations in unincorporated communities such as Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, and Midway City.
Code Enforcement issues notices to comply. Vehicles parked over 72 hours on public streets may be cited and towed under CVC 22651(k). Administrative fines apply for repeated zoning violations.
