Anaheim RV & Boat Parking Rules (2026): What You Need to Know

The City of Anaheim Municipal Code Title 18 (Zoning) establishes specific regulations for the storage of recreational vehicles, boats, campers, travel trailers, utility trailers, and other oversized vehicles on residential property. In residential zones, RVs and boats may only be stored on the property behind the front building setback line — they may not be parked in the front yard, between the front building wall and the street, or in the required front setback area. This regulation is designed to maintain neighborhood aesthetics and prevent the visual clutter of large vehicles dominating residential streetscapes in Anaheim's established neighborhoods.

When stored on residential property, RVs and boats must be screened from public view by a solid fence, wall, or dense landscaping that is at least as tall as the stored vehicle, up to the maximum fence height allowed by the zoning code. The vehicle must be parked on an approved hard surface — concrete, asphalt, or approved pavers — and may not be parked on bare dirt, grass, or landscaped areas. On public streets, RVs and boats are subject to the same 72-hour parking limit that applies to all vehicles under California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k). However, large RVs and boat trailers attract enforcement attention more quickly due to their impact on street parking capacity and neighbor complaints.
