Virginia Beach, VA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City Code § 16-41.2 defines recreational equipment as boats, jet skis, trailers, campers, motor homes, off-road vehicles and their hauling trailers. On residential lots, this equipment can only be kept inside a building or behind the plane of the house that faces the street: no parking it in the front yard long-term. Corner and through lots get rear-yard exceptions if screened by a six-foot fence or equivalent landscaping. Equipment may sit in a driveway up to 24 hours for loading or unloading, but parking in a public street or right-of-way is capped at three hours. Using stored equipment for living, sleeping or housekeeping is barred except where zoning allows it. Violations are a Class 3 misdemeanor.
