Fauquier County, VA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 13-34(a) lists sixteen specific places where no one may park a vehicle on county roads, unless necessary to avoid other traffic or directed by a law enforcement officer or traffic control device. The list covers sidewalks and curbs, intersections, in front of public or private driveways, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, on or within a crosswalk, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection (or 20 feet of the curb-line intersection, or 15 feet of the property-line intersection where there is no crosswalk), within 30 feet of a flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic signal, within 30 feet of a safety zone, within 50 feet of a railroad grade crossing, within 15 feet of a fire or rescue station driveway (75 feet on the opposite side when posted), alongside a street excavation that would obstruct traffic, on a bridge, elevated structure or in a tunnel, anywhere signs or markings prohibit it, in front of curb ramps, hydrants or mailboxes so as to block access, against the direction of traffic, and in any marked fire lane or traffic lane.

Subsection (d) gives law enforcement authority to move a violating vehicle at the owner's expense regardless of these provisions when performing their duties. This general parking scheme applies only in the unincorporated county, since Sec. 13-2 exempts incorporated towns like Warrenton that regulate their own traffic.
