New Berlin, WI Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 261-4 A sets the baseline: any vehicle parked on a New Berlin street must be licensed, roadworthy, maintained and in good condition, which lets the Police Department cite unregistered or derelict vehicles left curbside without invoking the separate abandoned-vehicle chapter. Subsection B bars any vehicle of 13,000 pounds or more, plus flatbed trailers, semitrailers, truck tractors, road machinery, recreational vehicles and tow trucks, from parking on a residential street, defined as a platted subdivision street or one where residential buildings average no more than 200 feet apart.

Subsection C prohibits parking on any city street inside the New Berlin Industrial Park, Moorland Industrial Park, Westridge Business Park or Towne Corporate Park outright; the Police Department may grant construction workers a temporary, fee-free permit good for up to one week.

The chapter also names specific streets where parking is banned entirely: both sides of Cleveland Avenue from 200 feet east of the high school property to 500 feet west of it (Subsection G); the west side of Calhoun Road between Roosevelt Avenue and Rogers Drive (Subsection H); and Library Lane south of Wall Street on the west side, plus the crosswalk area at Library Lane and Wall Street (Subsection K). A vehicle may still stop temporarily in a no-parking zone to load, unload, or pick up and discharge passengers if a licensed operator remains with it. The Chief of Police can also impose temporary parking restrictions of up to 30 days, extendable by the Common Council, to handle emergencies or construction.
