Oldham County, KY Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Oldham County Code § 70.01, adopted by Ordinance 96-540.29 on January 21, 1997, is the entirety of the county's Parking Regulations chapter for unincorporated Oldham County. It assigns liability by ownership: the registered owner of a vehicle illegally parked anywhere in the county is prima facie responsible for the violation, meaning the owner is presumed liable for the citation regardless of who was actually behind the wheel, unless that presumption is rebutted. The section authorizes any peace officer, which in unincorporated Oldham County means the Oldham County Police or the Sheriff's Office, to issue the citation directly rather than tracking down the driver.

Chapter 70 does not itself list specific prohibited parking locations, times, or zones; it exists purely to fix who answers for a citation once a vehicle is found in violation of applicable parking restrictions elsewhere in county or state traffic law. Because § 70.01 carries no penalty of its own, the fine defaults to the county's general penalty provision, § 10.99: where an ordinance prohibits an act but sets no specific fine, the violation is punished by a fine of not more than $250 per offense.

That $250 ceiling, and the citation-by-owner mechanism, are the only enforcement tools this chapter provides; there is no towing authority, escalating fine schedule, or points system written into Chapter 70 itself.
