Bergenfield's Snow and Ice Removal ordinance requires the owner or tenant of lands abutting or bordering on paved sidewalks of streets, avenues, highways, and public places to remove all snow and ice from the sidewalk within 24 hours after the snow and ice have ceased to fall or form. The duty applies to both owners and tenants, and noncompliance is enforced by the Code Enforcement Bureau. Failure to clear may result in municipal abatement at the responsible party's expense, in addition to fines.
