Bergenfield requires owners of vacant property to file a registration statement within 30 days, and to keep grass, weeds, and growth under eight inches.
Bergenfield requires the owner of any vacant property to file a registration statement with the Property Maintenance Inspector within 30 calendar days after the building becomes vacant or after assuming ownership, whichever is later, or within 10 calendar days of receipt of notice from the municipality. Vacant lots and buildings remain subject to the IPMC standards: grass and weeds may not exceed eight inches, exterior surfaces must be maintained, and bushes and hedges must be neatly trimmed. Failure to comply allows Borough abatement at owner expense after notice.
Failing to register vacant property; overgrown lot; deteriorated exterior surfaces.
