Full Breakdown
Under Codified Ordinances § 2-5-65(e), lighting a cigarette in an OC Parks-run regional park, beach or recreational area is legal until the Parks Director declares a fire-danger smoking restriction and posts it at the site: coverage can run from one trail to an entire park. Violating a posted restriction is enforced the same as any other Division 5 park rule: Park Rangers can issue a civil citation carrying a $50 fine for a first offense, $150 for a second within a year, and $500 after that, plus possible eviction from the park under § 2-5-3. The rule applies only to County-owned OC Parks facilities, not city parks or private property.
Violations & Fines
Smoking against a posted fire-danger restriction draws a civil citation: $50 first offense, $150 within a year, $500 after that, plus possible eviction from the park.
