Peoria, AZ Public Conduct: Public Alcohol Use (2026)

Section 7-65 draws a sharp line between beer and every other alcoholic beverage in Peoria's park system. Straight liquor, wine, and mixed drinks are barred outright under subsection (a)(1); beer is allowed, but only inside a ramada or concession area under (a)(2). Once a group of five or more people 21 or older wants to drink beer together, subsection (a)(3) requires that group to hold a Beer Permit, obtained through the park-permit process in Section 7-72. Kegs, vats, pumps, or any other equipment built to serve alcohol to a crowd are off-limits without a permit under (a)(4), and anyone actually pouring from that equipment is presumed to be in possession and control of it.

Permit holders also have obligations: subsection (a)(5) bars serving alcohol to uninvited members of the public, letting guests drink outside the areas designated in the permit, or serving anyone under 21, and (a)(7) requires the permit holder to make sure only beer, not other alcohol, gets consumed by a permitted group. A park ranger, peace officer, or designated police services officer can demand ID from anyone suspected of being under 21 under (a)(6), and refusing or presenting a false ID is its own violation. Subsection (a)(8) separately bars bringing beer or other alcohol into a park, softball or baseball complex, or multipurpose field area, and the Code's definitions make clear 'alcoholic beverage' tracks the state law definition of 'spirituous liquor,' including anything over one-half of one percent alcohol by volume.
