Full Breakdown

Sec. 16.06.1 of the city code flatly prohibits the possession, sale, or consumption of alcoholic beverages, liquor, beer, wine, and illegal drugs in any city park. The city manager can grant a written exemption to a person, organization, or park for a specific event, but absent that sign-off the ban is total: no beer at the picnic table, no wine at a wedding, no exceptions. The city's municipal pier carries its own parallel rule: Sec. 16.07.1 separately makes it unlawful to possess an open container of alcohol or to drink on the pier, marina, or adjacent municipal property.

Violations & Fines

Violation of the park alcohol ban is a code violation under the general penalty provision, Sec. 1.12, enforceable by citation or code enforcement action; each day of an ongoing violation can count as a separate offense.
