150 makes it unlawful for anyone to consume, possess or distribute an open container of alcoholic beverages at a park or recreation facility, except as allowed under the city's 'Parks & Recreation Alcohol on City Property Permission Policy,' an administrative permission track for approved gatherings rather than an automatic right. S. Title 13, Chapter 34, Arizona's Drug Offenses chapter, layering a park-specific violation on top of the state drug law. 010, this chapter reaches only parks, recreation facilities and associated areas the city owns, leases or operates, so the open-container ban is a parks-and-facilities rule rather than a citywide street or sidewalk restriction.

The section was amended by Ord. 2015-03 on February 24, 2015, and traces back to the 2006 code and Ord. 2009-10. Enforcement runs through the same permit exception structure used elsewhere in the parks chapter: without the alcohol permission policy's written sign-off, possessing even a closed container that has been opened, such as a beer can, at a Sedona park is a code violation regardless of the drinker's age or the amount consumed.
