Lauderhill, FL Public Conduct: Public Urination (2026)

Lauderhill does not have a standalone public urination statute; the only local prohibition sits inside the mass transit disorderly-conduct ordinance at Chapter 14, Article VIII, enacted by Ord. No. 21O-10-144 in 2021. Section 14-125 defines a "mass transit facility" broadly to include bus stops, terminals, transfer points, city and Broward County buses, and any waiting rooms, benches, shelters or restrooms serving them within the City of Lauderhill. Section 14-126 adopts the disorderly-conduct standard from the Broward County Code of Ordinances, chapter 21, article IX, and separately deems fourteen specific acts to be a breach of the peace or disorderly conduct under F.S. § 877.03 when committed at a transit facility.

The first of those, subsection (a), bars "littering, dumping of garbage or liquids or any other matter, or creating a nuisance or hazard or unsanitary condition by doing any act, including, but not limited to, spitting or urinating (except in facilities provided)." The same subsection also reaches related sanitation offenses such as dumping garbage or liquids, while neighboring subsections separately address sleeping in hazardous locations, gambling, loitering under F.S. § 856.021, loud sound equipment, open containers of alcohol, and vandalism at the facility. Because the prohibition is written into the transit-facility article rather than a general public-conduct chapter, it applies specifically at Lauderhill's bus stops and Broward County Transit facilities located in the city, not to public urination generally on city streets or in parks.

Section 14-127 sets the penalty: prosecution as a misdemeanor in the same manner as other misdemeanors under Florida law, with a fine of up to $500, up to 60 days in the county jail, or both.
