Lauderhill, FL Public Conduct: Outdoor Smoking Restrictions (2026)

Section 15-6 of the Lauderhill Code, adopted by Ordinance No. 23O-02-102 on March 13, 2023, bans smoking outright in all city parks. The ordinance does not define smoking narrowly by product type beyond the exception it grants: unfiltered cigars are the only smoking exempted from the ban, meaning cigarettes, filtered cigars, pipes, vaping and other smoking methods are covered by the prohibition wherever a city park boundary applies, including the parks named elsewhere in the Code such as Veterans Park, Central Broward Regional Park, Ilene Lieberman Botanical Gardens and John E.

Mullins Park. The section makes a violation a civil infraction rather than a criminal misdemeanor, and directs that enforcement and penalties run through Section 7½-3 of the Code, the citation provision applicable to civil infractions generally, rather than the criminal fine-and-jail penalty set for other park offenses in Section 15-3. Because the ban is confined to parks, it does not by its own terms extend to other outdoor public spaces such as sidewalks, streets or private business patios; those are governed, if at all, by separate provisions or by the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act for enclosed workplaces.

The parks smoking ban sits within Chapter 15, Article I alongside the park hours rule (Section 15-1) and the general parks-violation penalty (Section 15-3), but Section 15-6 specifically routes its own enforcement to the civil infraction track in Section 7½-3 instead.
