Arvada, CO Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 62-72, adopted by Ordinance No. 4044 in 2006, targets skateboarding, in-line skating, and similar wheeled devices only where the property owner, public or private, has posted signs prohibiting the activity; it is not a blanket citywide skateboarding ban. Subsection (a) makes it unlawful for anyone to use a skateboard, in-line skates, or a similar device on property posted to prohibit entering or remaining while using those devices. Subsection (b) authorizes any private property owner to post such signs and states that posting alone, without any further city permitting or action, is sufficient to authorize enforcement of the section on that property.

In practice this lets Olde Town Arvada businesses, shopping centers, and other private landowners post their own skateboarding-prohibited signage and have Arvada police cite violators under the ordinance, the same mechanism the city uses at posted public facilities such as plazas or parking structures. 00, imprisonment up to 364 days, or both, for an adult, with every day of continued unlawful use in a posted area treated as a separate offense.
