Milton, WI Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Section 70-312 of the Milton Code of Ordinances, which defines a skateboard in Section 70-311 as any wheeled vehicle propelled by foot power, lists eight specific operating restrictions. Skateboarding is banned outright on six named streets and highways: STH #59, STH #26, County Highway M, High Street, Hilltop Drive between High Street and the railroad tracks, and Merchant Row and Parkview Drive in their commercial areas. It is also barred in every municipal parking lot in the city and on sidewalks within the commercial districts, in posted areas of the municipal parks the director of public works has closed to skateboarding, and in private parking lots the owner has posted against skateboarding.

The section separately bans building or placing skateboard ramps on any public sidewalk or in any public park, prohibits being towed by a bicycle or vehicle while riding a skateboard on a sidewalk or roadway, and requires a skateboarder on a sidewalk to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and exercise due care when passing them. Section 70-313 makes a parent or guardian separately liable for knowingly permitting a child to violate any of these rules. 00 for a second or later conviction within a year, and a court may also impound the offending skateboard for up to 30 days. A violator under 14 falls instead under the jurisdiction of the Rock County Circuit Court under Wis. ch. 43.
