Milton, WI Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Milton Code Sec. 70-157(a)(1) bars parking or leaving any motor vehicle on public or private property in a loading zone, or in an alley within a business district, except temporarily while actually loading, unloading, or receiving and discharging passengers, and only while a licensed operator is attending the vehicle. The same subsection also bars stopping within ten feet of a fire hydrant or mailbox and within four feet of an alley, private road, or driveway entrance. This is separate from the zoning ordinance's off-street loading design standards at Sec.

07, which require any required loading area to sit on the same lot as the use it serves, at least 50 feet from a residential district, at least 25 feet from a street intersection, with a minimum of 14 feet of vertical clearance, and reviewed through the site plan process under Sec. 42. Loading areas cannot substitute for required parking spaces, and for buildings over 10,000 square feet of gross floor area they cannot sit in a required front yard. Police officers have authority under Sec.

70-159 to move or order the removal of any vehicle standing in violation of the parking division, with the owner or operator responsible for towing and storage charges, and moving the vehicle does not bar separate prosecution.
