Milton, WI Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 70-154(c) of the Milton Code of Ordinances folds the commercial-vehicle ban into the same subsection that prohibits using public parking spaces for storage. It states that parking of truck tractors, semitrailers and commercial motor vehicles 12,000 pounds or more gross weight is prohibited on streets and public spaces, with the only carve-out being Section 70-183(b). That exception, added by Ordinance No. 469 in 2019 and later amended in 2020 and 2023, allows such vehicles to park on Commerce Way east of Sunnyside Drive, the city's light-industrial corridor, capped at no more than 48 hours in any seven-day period, the same rolling-week limit the code applies to boats and trailers elsewhere in Section 70-154.

The ban does not reach a truck making an active delivery: Section 70-154(c) exempts motor vehicles parked immediately adjacent to a business while merchandise is actually being loaded or unloaded, and temporary stopping for deliveries, pickups, fuel or services is preserved citywide by Section 70-183(a). Emergency parking or storage of a covered vehicle needs advance approval from the Milton Police Department. 00, which the registered owner or operator may pay directly to the police department within 20 days rather than appear in municipal court. An officer may also order an illegally parked truck moved or towed under Section 70-159, billing the towing and storage costs to the owner.
