Vineland, NJ Public Health Rules: Restaurant Grade Cards (2026)

Chapter 563, Restaurants, requires anyone keeping a restaurant, temporary retail food establishment, bakery, mobile or temporary food-handling unit, liquor store, retail food market, day-care center, educational facility food service, or beverage vending machine in the City of Vineland to obtain a license from the Director of the Department of Health under § 563-3 and pay the fee fixed by the City; that license must be posted in a conspicuous place near the public entrance along with the evaluation placard. Applications go to the Director under § 563-4, and most licenses are ultimately granted by City Council after Health Department approval under § 563-5, which can suspend a license summarily if an inspection turns up an imminent health hazard, or revoke it for good cause after a hearing.

Section 563-11 lets the regulatory authority inspect any licensed establishment as often as necessary, and § 563-18 gives license holders a defined compliance path: critical violations must be corrected at the time of inspection or within an approved extension of up to 10 days, while noncritical violations get up to 90 days. License fees are phased under § 563-6, running from $100 for the lowest-risk category in Phase 1 up through $325 and higher for full-service, extensive-menu establishments, with three phased fee increases over two years. The Department of Health can also embargo food that is mislabeled, from an unapproved source, or otherwise noncompliant under § 563-18.G.
