Conway, AR Public Health Rules: Rodent Control (2026)

Section 5.09.11(E), part of the Conway Nuisance Abatement Code's exterior property requirements, requires that all structures and exterior property be kept free from rodent harborage and infestation. It does not leave extermination optional: where rodents are found, they must be promptly exterminated by approved processes that will not injure human health, and after extermination the property must take proper precautions to eliminate rodent harborage and prevent re-infestation, not just kill the current population. This sits alongside the broader sanitation duty in Section 5.09.11(A), which requires all exterior property to be maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition, and the code separately lists conditions that provide harborage for rats, mice, snakes and other vermin among its enumerated nuisances.

Enforcement runs through the same Code Enforcement Officers described in Section 5.09.02, who investigate reports, and Conway Police Department officers, who may also enforce the Nuisance Abatement Code; a confirmed rodent-harborage condition triggers the same written notice and abatement track the rest of Chapter 5.09 uses for other nuisance conditions, including entry for inspection under Section 5.09.03.
