Gardena Municipal Code Chapter 5.76 requires at least two on-site parking spaces per unit for home-sharing, meeting Chapter 18.40 standards. At least one space per reservation must be available to guests, and driveway spaces may count. An enclosed garage is not required.
Under Gardena Municipal Code Chapter 5.76, a home-sharing property must have a minimum of two on-site parking spaces per unit; these need not be in an enclosed garage. Parking must meet the requirements of Municipal Code Chapter 18.40 (off-street parking). At least one space per reservation must be made available to guests, and that may include the required spaces as well as driveway spaces. Tandem parking is allowed if each space measures at least nine by twenty feet and does not intrude on the public right-of-way. These provisions keep guest vehicles off surrounding streets and preserve neighborhood parking. Because home sharing is limited to R-1 and R-2 zones, the rules apply to single-family and two-unit properties, not commercial lodging.
Failing to provide the required on-site parking, or allowing guest parking that violates Chapter 18.40, can result in permit conditions being enforced or the permit being revoked.
