Gardena, CA Short-Term Rentals: Noise Rules (2026)

Under Gardena Municipal Code Section 5.76.060(N), a home sharing host must give every guest a good neighbor policy notice covering several disclosures, including that the city noise provisions require noise levels to be reduced from ten p.m. to seven a.m. That curfew tracks the general noise chapter, 8.36.070, which separately makes it unlawful to run radios, loudspeakers, power tools and similar devices between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. in a way that disturbs a neighboring property. The notice must also warn guests about parking rules, trash and recycling procedures, the risk of being treated as a trespasser if they overstay, and that police response costs for unruly-gathering calls under Chapter 9.68 can be billed to the guest.

Enforcement runs through two tracks. First, Chapter 1.20 lets the city issue an administrative citation directly against the host or a guest who violates the notice's terms. Second, and more consequentially for a host, Section 5.76.130(B) counts noise-chapter violations toward the three final violations threshold that automatically revokes a home sharing permit; the countdown includes violations of Chapter 8.36 (Noise) alongside Chapter 8.64 (Real Property Nuisance) and Chapter 9.68. A single loud party that draws a sustained noise citation therefore does double duty: it can be cited on its own and it moves the unit closer to permit revocation.
