Every STR must register annually with the DeSoto City Secretary. Registration includes ownership proof, local responsible party, floor plan, parking plan, insurance certificate, HOT account, and a $50 inspection. Renewal is due each anniversary.
DeSoto Chapter 30 Section 30-202 sets out the STR registration process. Owners submit an online application with a deed or title showing ownership; contact information for a local responsible party within a 30-mile radius; floor plan showing bedrooms and egress; parking plan; ACORD 25 insurance certificate; a completed HOT registration; and a $250 application fee plus $50 inspection fee. A Fire Marshal inspection checks smoke/CO alarms, fire extinguishers, and egress. Renewal applications are due 30 days before expiration. Changes in ownership, local contact, or bedroom count must be reported within 10 days.
