Full Breakdown
Sec. 36-11 requires city sign-off before anyone installs a driveway or culvert on city-owned right-of-way in Rockwall. The property owner or tenant must purchase and deliver the materials themselves, and the culvert must be built to city specifications with a diameter sufficient to carry drainage water, running between 10 and 24 feet long. Installations that skip the city's prior approval, or approved ones alike, remain the property owner's responsibility to maintain, repair, and replace for as long as they use them, even though the driveway sits on public land.
Violations & Fines
Unauthorized or unmaintained driveways violate Rockwall's general penalty code, Sec. 1-13, punishable by a fine up to $500 per offense, with each day counted separately.
