Parker, CO Sign Regulations: Garage Sale Signs (2026)

Because Chapter 13.09 does not carve out a separate rule for garage-sale or yard-sale signs, the Town of Parker treats one the same as any other temporary freestanding sign on a residential parcel. Table 13.09.B sets the baseline: a freestanding temporary sign is capped at 32 square feet per face, 64 square feet total per parcel, and 8 feet in height. Section 13.09.040(e)(2) adds an extra allowance specifically for houses, stacking an additional six square feet of temporary sign area onto every single-family and duplex residential parcel, and 40 additional square feet for multifamily parcels, on top of that base allowance.

Duration is set by Section 13.09.040(d)(3)b.1: a temporary freestanding sign, garage-sale signs included, may be displayed for a maximum of ninety days per calendar year, plus one additional sixty-day extension if the owner resubmits the registration under Section 13.03.040(o) before the first period lapses. All temporary signs, regardless of type, must be registered under that same section before being posted, and none may be placed within the public right-of-way except under the separate procedure in Chapter 10.13, Signage within Streets and Sidewalks, which covers signs planted in the parkway or median rather than on private property.

A garage-sale sign staked in the yard of a single-family home therefore needs a registration on file, has to stay under the size and height caps, and has to come down well within the ninety-day window most sales never approach.
