Section 21-85(2) sets out seven placement and size standards for yard and garage sale signs, all listed under the heading defining the sign as one used to advertise a yard or garage sale. No sign can be located within the public right-of-way, echoing the citywide right-of-way ban in § 21-62(1), and every sign must be posted on private property with the property owner's consent, tying back to the general consent rule in § 21-63. The code separately bars mounting a sign on a telephone pole, tree, or traffic sign, closing off the most common places a sign-poster might otherwise use along a street frontage.

Size is capped at four square feet per sign, smaller than the 32-square-foot allowance for political or promotional signs elsewhere in § 21-85, and a single sale is limited to six signs total. Timing is tight on both ends: signs may go up two days before the sale at the earliest and must come down the day after the sale ends, giving a maximum display window of a handful of days regardless of how long the sale itself runs. Section 21-85(2)f adds an enforcement hook: the seller must produce the temporary sign permit on request from any municipal officer or citizen who asks for proof of permission for the sale, letting a neighbor or code enforcement officer check compliance on the spot without waiting for a formal complaint.
