Union City regulates temporary signs, including garage and yard sale signs, under UCMC Chapter 18.30. Such signs may not be posted more than 14 days before an event and must be removed within five days after, and they may not be placed in the public right-of-way.
Garage and yard sale signs are temporary noncommercial signs governed by Chapter 18.30 (Sign Regulations). Temporary signs may not be placed more than 14 calendar days before the event and must be removed immediately upon the event ending and no more than five calendar days afterward. A maximum of four noncommercial temporary signs is allowed per calendar year in residential zoning districts. Signs must be placed on private property facing the road that provides access, not in parks, sidewalks, or the public right-of-way. Signs in the public right-of-way may be removed by the city. Posting on utility poles and public infrastructure is prohibited, consistent with the city's political-sign placement policy.
Garage sale signs left up past the allowed window or placed in the public right-of-way may be removed by the city, and repeat violations can prompt code-enforcement follow-up.
