Full Breakdown
Union City exempts garage and yard sale signs from full sign-plan review under § 18.30.040(F), but caps them tightly. One sign is allowed on the sale property itself, naturally illuminated and no larger than four square feet. Up to four additional directional signs with arrows are allowed on other private properties, with the owner's consent, but only on weekends and holidays, not weekdays. None of these signs may go on sidewalks, medians, public rights-of-way, parks, or be affixed to trees, utility poles, or railroad property without permission. Every sign must show the sale date and come down within five calendar days after the sale.
Violations & Fines
Signs illegally placed in the public right-of-way or left up beyond the 5-day removal deadline are unpermitted signs subject to removal and code enforcement citation under Chapter 18.30.
