Gulfport, FL Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Sec. 09 lists the temporary signs Gulfport exempts from its normal permitting rules, and paragraph (a)(6) covers political signs: those identifying political campaigns, candidates or issues on which city residents may vote. The provision confines political signs to private property, meaning none may go up in the public right-of-way or on city land. Two numeric limits apply: no more than one political sign per ballot issue, per candidate, and per position is allowed on any single property, and every political sign has to be removed within seven days after the election to which it pertains, with the removal duty falling on the property where the sign sits.

The section is explicit that this one-sign-per-race cap does not borrow from, or count against, the separate limits on other temporary signs in subsection (c), so a property can carry its full complement of other temporary signage in addition to its political signs. Neighboring temporary-sign categories in the same section include construction signs, removable after 120 days, new-business signs, also 120 days or until permanent signage goes up, and event signs for public, charitable or religious functions, ten days after the event.
