Waynesville, MO Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Section 510.070 of the Waynesville Municipal Code, 'Signs in Residential Areas,' lists political signs among the sign types allowed in residential zones and sets three specific limits on them: a maximum area of 32 square feet for any one sign, placement only on private property, and a display window that runs no earlier than 120 days before an election and must end within 7 days after the election the sign was made for. Political signs are also covered by the section's general height rule for listed sign types, which caps ground signs among items (a) through (c) and item (g), the political-sign entry, at 8 feet from the surrounding grade to the highest point of the sign.

The section's broader location rule bars any ground-placed sign from standing closer than 10 feet to a property line. Because § 510.070 is the residential-area sign article, these limits apply to a single-family home, church or subdivision lot displaying a candidate or issue sign; enforcement runs through the City Administrator or a designated representative, who can order removal of a sign that violates the Chapter, and a resident can appeal a non-conforming-sign determination to the Board of Adjustment. Waynesville's sign rules are separate from St. Robert's and unincorporated Pulaski County's.
