Weston, FL Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Section 126.18(B) of the Weston Code of Ordinances, titled Noncommercial Signs, is the provision that governs political yard signs and other message signs unrelated to a business. No permit is required in either residential or nonresidential zoning. On Single-Family and MF1 Residential lots, each sign is capped at four square feet, the combined area of all noncommercial signs on a parcel cannot exceed 16 square feet, and signs cannot stand taller than five feet above grade. On Nonresidential and MF2/MF3 Residential lots, the per-sign cap rises to eight square feet with the same 16-square-foot combined cap per parcel, and the height limit rises to six feet above grade.

In every district, a noncommercial sign cannot be displayed for more than 120 consecutive days within any 12-month period, so a sign put up before an election must come down before the next display cycle can begin. Because 126.18(B) sits inside § 126.18, Temporary Signs, it also inherits that section's placement rule: a temporary freestanding sign cannot be placed within the sight triangle of an intersection required under § 125.56 of the City Code, and none of these signs may go in a public or private right-of-way, where the City can remove them and charge a removal fee set by City Commission resolution.
